Established in 2019, Dhawalagiri Multiple Campus (DMC) has progressively emerged as a distinguished institution within Dhawalagiri area. The campus has recently achieved accreditation from the University Grants Commission (UGC) in recognition of its adherence to Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA) standards. This accreditation underscores DMC’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and has significantly enhanced its reputation. DMC graduates have achieved notable success in bureaucratic, academic, commercial, and socio-political fields both within Nepal and internationally.
The establishment of Dhawalagiri Multiple Campus (DMC) represents the collective aspirations of the Dhawalagiri community. Situated in the heart of Baglung Municipality, at the intersection of the Kaligandaki Corridor and Mid-Hilly Highways, the campus's strategic location enhances accessibility to higher education.
In its early stages, DMC operated evening classes in the school building of Vidyamandir High School, a well-known institution in Baglung Bazaar and a current feeder school. Presently, DMC owns approximately 88 ropanies of land and has developed a range of facilities to support academic, administrative, and residential needs.
A strategic blend of traditional infrastructure with modern educational techniques is central to attracting students from diverse backgrounds and aspirations at Dhawalagiri Multiple Campus (DMC). The oldest structure on campus—a traditionally designed, slate-roofed building housing four classrooms and a multipurpose sports/meeting hall—was built at the inception of the campus. Since then, DMC has expanded its facilities with the construction of the Law Block, Science Block, BBA Block, Canteen, and Free Student Office (FSU) office in the upper premises. The recently completed library building, designed with contemporary architectural principles and located in the upper premises, is a major resource for learning, featuring an advanced e-library facility. Additionally, accommodations such as the Boys Hostel, Teacher/Staff quarters, and the newly built Ladies Hostel are located on the lower premises.
In 2030 BS, DMC was incorporated as a constituent campus of Tribhuvan University (TU), which alleviated some financial burdens and allowed for the development of a blended plan to expand and upgrade academic programs and infrastructure. Despite facing various challenges, DMC has continued to implement this plan effectively. The introduction of autonomy in 2078 has further improved the campus’s ability to utilize resources efficiently.
DMC prioritizes quality education to prepare students for future challenges, incorporating student-centered and globally applicable pedagogical strategies. The campus strives to enhance learning resources and foster a research-oriented culture. With a dedicated faculty team and the use of modern pedagogical techniques, including multimedia projectors in most classrooms, DMC has seen positive responses to these innovative teaching methods. The tutorial programs are designed to prepare students for high-level professional roles.
Currently, DMC serves over 2,100 students across various faculties and streams. The campus offers Bachelor programs in BA, BCA, BEd, BBS, BBA, and BSc, as well as Master programs in MBS, MA in Sociology, MA in Nepali, MEd in Nepali, MEd in Curriculum, and MEd in English.
In accordance with its operational calendar, Dhawalagiri Multiple Campus (DMC) conducts internal examinations in two phases for annual programs and in three phases for semester programs. Based on the examination results, the campus offers feedback through remedial classes designed to support slower learners. These efforts have markedly enhanced academic performance for many students.
Dhawalagiri Multiple Campus (DMC) actively involves students in its quality enhancement efforts through the participation of representatives from the Free Student Union (FSU) and Student Quality Circles (SQCs). Established in nearly every class and level, the SQCs are instrumental in driving and implementing quality initiatives throughout the campus. The campus also provides a diverse range of extracurricular activities, including sports contests, cultural performances, and talent shows. Participation in these activities fosters a strong sense of fraternity among students and establishes the campus as an ideal setting for developing their talents and ambitions.
DMC has identified its weaknesses and challenges and developed a comprehensive approach through short-term, mid-term, and long-term plans, encapsulated in five-year strategic plans. The first strategic plan (2073/74-078/79) has been successfully implemented, and a second strategic plan (2079/80-083/84) is now in place to accelerate improvements in educational, administrative, and infrastructural areas. These initiatives aim to uphold and enhance the standards set by Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA).
DMC has cultivated a spirit of teamwork through its Quality Enhancement Mechanism (QEM). This framework includes committees with clearly defined responsibilities, engaging both faculty and staff in its execution. This approach has proven effective in fostering teamwork and achieving defined goals.
In line with the QAA mission, significant improvements have been made in various aspects of the campus. These include the installation of EMIS software, digitalization of academic records, introduction of remedial and non-credit courses, development of a resourceful library with e-resources, better-maintained science and computer labs, expanded sports facilities, and improved hostel accommodations. The campus also enhances its visibility through prospectuses, brochures, bulletins, a website, a Facebook page, and a digital notice board. These efforts collectively contribute to a better learning environment and have increased the campus's appeal to prospective students.
Dhawalagiri Multiple Campus (DMC) has significantly advanced its research and publication culture. The annual publication of 'Dhawalagiri Journal of Sociology/Anthropology' (indexed one star by Nepjol), Pragyasarathi (recently upgraded to a peer-reviewed journal with DOI and indexed by Nepjol), and Dhawalagiri Journal of Contemporary Issues (a peer-reviewed journal with DOI also indexed by Nepjol) are notable achievements in this area.
The campus promotes a research-friendly environment by organizing workshops and seminars for faculty, offering research incentives, and supporting further academic study, including MPhil and PhD programs.
We would like to welcome all the enthusiastic students to join this campus and become part of our glory.
